Easiest thing is to just scan a note and print out one printout of each side, then cut them out, and then get cheap paper and cut a big wad of it to the same size as the note. Put the top scan and the bottom scan above and below the wad and there you go... suitable for throwing in a fire.
You can maybe get away with just printing one side of the note depending on what the film. And of course you could always use a real note on a close up to really sell it before you chuck the fake wad in.

yeah, i guess it depends on the shots in which you see the money. i saw a scottish movie once and they threw it up in the air so it rained down on em...u know, just what everyone dreams of doin one day...and i later found out they'd cut out newspaper!
it looked ok, but there wasnt anything near a close-up used.

I know someone who had to have fake money made, and by the time she was done, it was a noticeable percentage of what real money would have cost!
Printing on both sides, cutting all the bills, etc...can get costly if you have someone do it for you. Her situation happened a few years ago, so perhaps the cost is less with home printing advancements.

Why not just copy a few notes, print them out and use your monopoly money for the centre money?
